Update

Carol and I attended the meeting of BARRA, the Birmingham Air Raids Rememberance Association. We were made very welcome and received a number of stories previously unpublished. The asociation wholeheartedly gave its backing to A MIDLANDS TOWN. Among the brilliant contacts that day were Barbara,Doreen (whose story will break your heart when it is shown), Alistair who was a manager at the BSA and is still deeply affected by the night that (in his own words) 54 souls clocked on for the last time. and Eddie, who was attending his first meeting, but hallelujah, was part of the engineering team responsible for fitting out Castle Bromwich, then spent his war in the maintenance section and Home Guard at the factory. I was also presented with a new copy of Chinny's book Brum Undaunted, just as well as mine's falling apart and Barbara presented both Cand I, with BARRA's brooch, which is now proudly worn everywhere. I discovered Parsons and Bells on The Tree of Life memorial and I am waiting to hear from my uncle Bill as to whether they're family. Went also to a Spitfire 70th anniversary at Heartlands Ford nextdoor to the old CBAF. A good evening once again and plenty of new contacts. I was delighted at both events to deputise for Alex, by giving an address for each that he had forwarded. The script for the first episode is now with my agent Richard Ireson as is a copy of "The Flight Of The Mew Gull". Richard is a good pal and has urged me not to be too optimistic. I take his advice very seriously, but I've always given in to that kind of thinking and it's got me nowhere. This time I'm afraid I'll have injunctions on me for stalking and still wont give up....ITS TOO IMPORTANT

G-AEXF
Hi my name is Denis Bumford I was cleaning up a silver plated mug 11/8/06 and was interested in the inscription on it (To J Roxberry whose work and assistance on G- AEXF helped to break all cape records) and the signature Alex Henshaw. I was searching the net and found your site. My wife’s mother’s maiden name was Roxberry and we think J is for John who was her Brother, she is now dead. We would be very interested to learn what work john did on G-AEXF. Thanks Denis

'Venda' Jicha
I meet up on an annual basis with Venda's fiancee Julinka Liska at his grave in Haddington. She's now in her mid 80's. I'd be happy to liase with anyone who would like to know more about Venda's life.
